Birr Gaa club was founded in 1909. Birr were the first club to win 4 all Ireland’s and 7 leinster titles. At present Birr has lifted the Sean Robbins cup on 22 occasions with the most recent of them coming in 2008. The first all Ireland was held in Birr in 1888. Over the years we have been privileged with some of the players in our midst with Brian Whelehan making it onto the team of the millennium and winning 4 all stars and Johnny Pilkington also picking up an all star award.
