Gowlin Cycling Club is a recently formed cycling club based in south Carlow at the foot of the Blackstairs. We are a growing club of about 20 members presently, all from Gowlin and the surrounding area. And as of this year we will be an affiliated member of Cycling Ireland – the National Cycling Body.

The Gowlin Cycling Club cater for cyclists of any age, shape or size! If you have a functioning bike and a pair of functioning legs to go with it you are welcome to come along on any of our weekly spins. Typically we try to get out a few evenings during the week for short cycles (20km-30km), and then have a longer cycle on a Sunday morning, anywhere from 50km – 80km.

Their cycles take us all over the south east, mainly through the 3 counties of Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford and sometimes all on the same day! A beautiful part of the country to cycle around and we make full use of it. Gowlin Cycling Club categorise ourselves as a casual or leisure cycling club, as of yet we have not taken part in any races, so the only competition we have is between ourselves.

Gowlin Cycling Club regularly attends and supports many of the great charity cycles that are held by other clubs around the country every year. And for the past few years we have organised our own event, an annual 40-100km cycle in aid of Multiple Sclerosis, which is getting bigger and bigger each year. The aim of the club is twofold, to promote cycling as a great fitness hobby and to encourage as many people as we can to take it up. And secondly to have a winner of the Tour de France originate from within our ranks! Not really.
